I’m not a Newfoundlander – and I think it’s worth saying that plainly, because it shapes how this site works. I don’t write from memory or personal anecdote. Every number here comes from a source I can point to, and I’d rather tell you exactly where a figure came from than tell you I once paid it myself.

What I’m building toward
Most cost-of-living pages you’ll find are either scraped aggregator data or vague generalities. This site aims to be the most complete, most current, and most clearly sourced breakdown of costs in Newfoundland and Labrador – city by city, updated as rates and prices change, with the methodology open for anyone to check.
If I get something wrong
I will. If you live in Newfoundland and a number here doesn’t match your reality, please tell me – corrections from residents are the most valuable feedback this project gets, and they get incorporated with credit. I publish under a pen name, Alex Marsh – I prefer to keep my personal identity offline. Everything about how this site works, though, is on the record.
